Verna & Associates has been family-owned since its formation in 1993 under the name Verna’s Accounting and Tax Services. Built from the ground up by Robert J. & Paul Verna with their extensive accounting knowledge, the goal has always been to treat clients like family. Robert’s background in both small business ownership and accounting gave him a unique perspective on how to serve clients. When his son Paul joined the firm, he added his expertise in financial reporting and tax services. The father and son duo along with Timothy Battista and Kerry Revelas grew the firm together over the last three decades to become one of the largest in southern New Jersey, serving thousands of clients. Paul is proud to continue Robert’s legacy today, offering a personalized approach to tax and accounting services in the region.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Science in Accounting from Saint Joseph’s University in 1989. Shortly after graduation, he founded his own accounting practice in Pennsylvania, laying the foundation for what would become one of the region’s most respected firms. After earning his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation in 1992, Paul merged his practice with his father’s New Jersey firm in 1993, combining entrepreneurial vision with a strong family legacy.

In 1997, Paul acquired the firm from his father, which at the time employed just three team members. Under his leadership, the firm has experienced remarkable growth, expanding to more than 100 employees across three offices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Today, the practice serves more than 3,500 business clients and 5,000 individual clients, with a recognized expertise in providing strategic accounting, tax, and advisory services to small and mid-sized businesses.

A lifelong resident of Delaware County, Paul resides in Media with his wife, Maria. Throughout his career, he has remained committed to the principles that have defined both his success and the firm’s reputation: providing exceptional service at a fair price and treating every client like family. This client-first philosophy has fostered enduring relationships and earned the trust and loyalty of generations of individuals, families, and businesses.

Kerry has been a Partner at Verna and Associates since 2005, bringing more than 30 years of experience serving individuals, closely held businesses, and entrepreneurs throughout the Delaware Valley. Prior to joining the firm, he owned Revelas, Heward & Company, LLC, a public accounting firm specializing in small and mid-sized businesses. After purchasing the firm in 1998, Kerry built a successful practice providing accounting, tax, and business consulting services to a diverse client base. In 2005, he merged his firm with Verna and Associates, expanding the resources available to clients while continuing to grow his practice.

Throughout his career, Kerry has developed extensive expertise across a broad range of industries, enabling him to provide practical, strategic guidance tailored to each client’s needs. His practice focuses on corporate, individual, and estate and trust tax planning and compliance, financial reporting, and business start-up consulting. He is committed to building long-term client relationships by delivering responsive service, trusted advice, and practical solutions.

As a partner, Kerry is equally committed to fostering a collaborative, client-focused culture where exceptional service, professional development, and teamwork are valued. He believes that investing in people—both clients and colleagues—is the foundation of lasting success.

Kerry earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Rowan University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants. He has also served on the executive boards of the Greater Woodbury Chamber of Commerce and the Woodbury Rotary Club.

Prior to joining Verna and Associates in 2023, Alex was a partner of Cupersmith, Wilensky, Stempler & Company, LLP. CWS & Co, LLP was a full-service accounting firm who specialized in corporate, individual, nonprofit, trust, and estate taxes along with audited, reviewed, and compiled financial statements and bookkeeping services. Alex started his accounting career in 2008 with CWS & Co, LLP after graduating from Drexel University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a concentration in accounting. Alex is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants and New Jersey Society of Public Accountants. He is certified in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Alex has gained knowledge and expertise in various industries working and developing relationships with many business owners and entrepreneurs. The primary services he provides include corporate and individual income tax planning and preparation and financial reporting. Throughout his career, he strongly relies on his social and communication skills to gain the trust of his clients to incorporate him in various financial, personal, and business decisions along the way. He believes in always being available for his clients to advise and consult with them on a wide array of topics. He is heavily involved in his community providing numerous services to the many businesses and individuals in his area. Alex enjoys working with and mentoring his accounting staff in order to give back the opportunity and guidance he was provided as a young accountant.

Upon graduation from Upper Darby High School, Robert entered the U.S. Army serving with the 89th Infantry Division in the European Theater. Upon being discharged, Robert returned home and obtained a bachelor’s degree from Temple University in accounting. After graduation, Robert worked in the accounting field, but was drawn to the retail market.

Robert opened a local hardware store in Southwest Philadelphia, which he successfully operated for over twenty years. Robert returned to accounting in 1970, working as an accountant with Ball, Buckley and Bierbrunner, a local firm. In 1980, Robert and Hank Bierbrunner left the firm to form their own firm, Bierbrunner and Verna, in Thorofare, New Jersey.

In 1993, Robert and his son, Paul, formed their own firm, Verna’s Accounting and Tax Services, in Thorofare, New Jersey. In 1997, Paul succeeded Robert as Principal of Verna’s Accounting & Tax Services.

Sadly Robert passed in October 2016. However, his spirit and values live on in the strong family environment that he instilled at Verna & Associates.
